The Federal Aviation Administration is turning to new software in its long effort to reduce flight delays and modernize air traffic management. The agency has tapped Air Space Intelligence for a system designed to better coordinate schedules and aircraft trajectories before planes even depart.
Reuters reported that the FAA will use the new system to help ensure capacity matches air traffic demand and to provide better data for managing flights. The goal is to prevent congestion before it turns into cascading delays that frustrate passengers and strain airlines.
